The Austrian Snooker and Billiards Association ÖSBV is pleased to announce the first-ever hosting of a WPBSA Q Tour event in Austria. The fifth event of the popular qualification tournament series will take place from December 13 to 15, 2024, at the National Training Academy in Vienna.

The 2024/25 Q Tour season, which for the first time will visit the European mainland with four out of seven tournaments, begins in mid-August with the opening event at the Northern Snooker Center in Leeds, England, and will continue through Bulgaria and Sweden before arriving in Austria, then moving on to Switzerland.

The local Snooker scene can look forward to welcoming Europe’s top amateur players, who will compete in the highly contested Q Tour events for tickets to the World Snooker Main Tour. The top-ranked player in the Q Tour rankings – last year it was England’s Michael Holt – is guaranteed a spot on the professional World Snooker Tour. Players ranked 2nd to 17th, unless they have already won one of the events, qualify for the Q Tour Global Play-off in the spring of 2025, where three additional Main Tour tickets will be awarded.

One of the top European amateurs aiming for the professional tour is Austria’s Florian Nuessle, who is already well-acquainted with WPBSA qualification events. The current and seven-time national champion is automatically qualified for the seven events of the upcoming Q Tour season due to his top-64 placement in the last Q School in Leicester, England. He will also enjoy the home advantage for the first time at the National Training Academy in Vienna.

Further information about the 2024/25 Q Tour season and the Vienna event will be provided after the release of the entry pack by WPBSA.
