Following the Men’s and Under 16/18/21’s European Championships held earlier this year in Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina, the 2024 European Snooker Championship titles for the Masters (Singles & Teams) and the Men (6 Reds, Shoot-out & Teams) will begin on October 10 in the beautiful town of Albufeira, Portugal.

For Austria, the current Masters champion Garry Balter (Group H), the current leader of the Austrian Snooker League rankings Hans “Jack” Nirnberger (Group P), and Richard Kornberger (Group L), who is ranked number five in Austria, will compete in the singles event.

Unfortunately Bernhard Wallner, who was nominated for both Masters events (team competition with Richard Kornberger), had to withdraw from the tournament for personal reasons.

Thus, Austria will be represented by one team in the Masters team competition. Garry Balter & Hans Nirnberger will face off against England 1, Northern Ireland 2, Switzerland and Lithuania 2 in Group C.

From October 16, the reigning national champion Florian Nüßle and former national champion Paul Schopf will join the team to begin their European Championship campaign with the 6-Reds event in the Men’s category. Both players will also compete in the subsequent Shoot-out event and represent Austria in the final Men’s Team competition, aiming for a medal.
