The two Q School events held in Leicester, England, ended without a Main Tour ticket for Austrians Florian Nüßle and Paul Schopf.
Austrian champion Nüßle managed to advance to the round of the last 16 players in the first of the two events after achieving two 4:1 victories over Gary Milne (ENG) and Daan Leyssen (BEL) and a 4-2 win over Peter Devlin (ENG). However, in this round, he narrowly lost 3-4 to Englishman Kayden Bierley, thus missing the chance to compete in the decisive round for a spot on the Snooker Main Tour.
In the second event, Nüßle’s hopes for 2024 had to be abandoned after two matches. Following a 4-2 win against Frenchman Nicolas Mortreux in his opening match, he faced a rematch of the lost Last 16 match at this year’s Vienna Snooker Open against former professional player Mark Joyce. Unfortunately, Nüßle could not secure a victory and suffered a painful 3-4 defeat to the Englishman.
Paul Schopf did not make it past the opening round in either event, suffering defeats to the eventual Main Tour ticket winner Wang Yuchen from Hong Kong (0-4) and Englishman Patrick Whelan (2-4).
The Main Tour tickets from the Q School 2024 were secured by Wang Yuchen (HKG), Artemijs Žižins (LAT), Allan Taylor (ENG), Haydon Pinhey (ENG), Farakh Ajabi (PAK), Chris Totten (SCO), Antoni Kowalski (POL), and Mitchel Mann (ENG).
Snooker Austria continues to hope that it will soon be able to celebrate its first professional player on the World Snooker Tour.
