Since 2019, Florian Nüßle hasn‘’’t lost a single match in any tournament organized by the ÖSBV (Austrian Snooker and Billiards Association), and the reigning national champion extended this impressive streak at the sixth Grand Prix of the 2024 Austrian Snooker League. He claimed his 30th Grand Prix trophy with remarkable ease, losing just one frame throughout the entire tournament.
For the first time, a top-tier event of the Austrian snooker scene was held at the new TSG Graz clubrooms. 16 players competed at six tables at this penultimate event of the season, fighting for valuable points to qualify for the Austrian National Championship, which will be held at the National Training Academy in January 2025.
Alongside Nüßle, Thomas Janzso and Oskar Charlesworth from HSEBC, as well as Paul Schopf from Wels club PSSC, qualified for the final day. Schopf was the only player able to take a frame from Nüßle during his 1-4 semifinal loss.
In the other semifinal, Oskar Charlesworth secured the second final spot by winning an internal HSEBC matchup. However, the final saw little competition, except for a close fourth and final frame, as Florian Nüßle secured a comfortable 4-0 victory and the day’s title.
In the third-place playoff, Paul Schopf also achieved a commanding 4-0 win. He recorded the tournament’s highest break, and the only century, with a 105-point clearance in the last frame, cementing his well-deserved third place.
The referees for the event were Günther Eckhart from Linz, who also officiated the final, and Franz Meszaros from Vienna. The tournament was organized by Christian Stadler from TSG Graz.
The season finale will take place on November 9th and 10th at the National Training Academy in Vienna, where HSEBC will have the honour of hosting the concluding event of the 2024 Grand Prix season.
