Following his Q Tour triumph in Vienna in mid-December, Chinese player Xiao Xintong confirmed his return to the Snooker Main Tour with his fourth consecutive tournament victory in Mons, Belgium. However, the highlight of the sixth Q Tour event of the 2024/25 season from an Austrian perspective was a remarkable third-place finish by national champion Florian Nüßle.
The seven-time national champion and reigning 6 Reds European Champion, who aims to secure his eighth consecutive national title next weekend at the Snooker and Billiards Academy in Vienna, took an important step toward his international season goal. His strong performance in Belgium brings him closer to qualifying for the Q Tour Global Playoff, set to take place in March in Antalya, Turkey. This playoff offers three coveted Main Tour spots.
Nüßle improved his ranking to 11th place and can further enhance his position with a solid performance at the final ranking event in Walsall, England, hosted at the popular Landywood Snooker Club. A higher ranking would ensure a better seeding for the Global Playoff, boosting his chances for success.
Xiao Xintong ended Nüßle’s impressive run in the semifinals with a 4-0 victory. The Chinese player can now celebrate his return to the Snooker Main Tour. Four consecutive tournament wins have secured him an unassailable lead in the Q Tour rankings, guaranteeing one of the four annual Main Tour tickets awarded through the Q Tour.
