Austrian Snooker Champion Florian Nüßle began the 2024/25 Q Tour season with a solid performance, securing a 9th place finish at the Northern Snooker Centre in Leeds, England. This result lays a strong foundation for his bid to qualify for the Global Q Tour Playoff in the spring of 2025.

On the first day of play, Nüßle secured two victories: a 4-2 win against 14-year-old Shaun Liu from Hong Kong and a 4-1 victory over Northern Irish former Main Tour player Gerard Greene, the 2005 World Games gold medalist. On the final day of the event, Nüßle faced England’s Ryan Davies in the Last 16. Despite coming back from 0-2 and 1-3 deficits, Nüßle ultimately lost 2-4, falling short of advancing to the quarterfinals.

The winner of the first Q Tour event of the new season was Estonian player Andres Petrov, who triumphed in a thrilling and close final against Australia’s Ryan Thomerson, winning 4-3. Petrov’s victory was highlighted by a remarkable break of 119 points, showcasing his professional-level snooker skills. Impressively, Petrov won all three deciding frames he played on the final day.

The tournament’s highest breaks were recorded by Scotland’s Jack Borwick (139) and Aiden Murphy (134), both of which were achieved in the first round, highlighting the high level of competition present at Q Tour events, even in the early knockout stages.

The second stop of the 2024/25 Q-Tour season, which will also visit Vienna from December 13 to15, is set to take place at the Bulgarian Snooker Academy in Sofia from September 20 to 22.
